I use XSplit Broadcaster... you can do the multi-screen splits and overlays with text, media or full screen. It's relatively easy once I got used to it, and though the free version comes with a watermark, I found that if I stream to Twitch, YouTube or Picarto, you can save a copy locally as an FLV file which is way faster to upload onto for example YouTube, or, you can export directly from the later 2 (onto YouTube) (but ya can't export from Picarto) .. hope that info helps! Cheers <3

If you just need a simple screen capture software ezvid has treated me well in the past. It will not have the most effects or win awards on video editing but for basic things it does a good job.

If you haven't found a good program by now, I highly recommend Open Broadcaster Software (OBS for short). This is what the majority of people on twitch use for their live-streams. I've been using it myself for an occasional broadcast of my own. Besides streaming, OBS records to the computer. It's free and very intuitive to use.

I cannot use OBS. It doesn't agree with my computer and despite me having put it on the right settings, it REFUSES to work. If there is an alternative to OBS, I would gladly use it.

Ouch, that sucks. What happens when you try to install it? Unfortunately I'm not quite familiar with any other software.

Installing it doesn't give me any problems. Syncing it with Picarto (which gives me this broadcasting key and all that) is no trouble. Actually outputting video, on the other hand, is where the problem lies. OBS insists that there is 0 bytes actually being sent to the internet when I've got my settings right and when I start recording, and when my internet is actually good.

Hmm, you could generate a new streaming key and see if that works. If not, maybe check for recommended settings on the site. If all else fails maybe re-install the software to see if that works... Does the same happen on twitch?

The same happens on Twitch, and the same happens whenever I generate new streaming keys. Reinstalling the software doesn't work either, because the same problems happened on the second installation of the software.

I did everything that was asked of me and still it didn't work, and the forums weren't particularly helpful either, dismissing as noobs anyone who had problems that *they* hadn't reported.

Do you think your firewall could be cutting off the internet for OBS?

Not that I know... O_O
