Last comment on the Situation.
1. Robtop's fault for not asking/looking for solutions earlier
2. Newgrounds fault for not reading the Custom Songs terms of service.
3. It wasn't 100% of the GD communities fault, just the little kids who don't know the consequences of audio theft. (not just little kids, the people who don't understand the consequences in general.
4. Shitstorm of Negativity in the comments is just making this worse.
The community has to understand they can't just fucking harass artists and NG moderators, have some respect for the artists here, and when I do quit Geometry Dash, I'll still come here for the music, I love all the songs I have found from GD, but I'll continue to love and support these artists after GD dies and I quit.
I have even showed one of my songs to one of my favorite artists I found through Geometry Dash, in whom is Lockyn.
What I'm trying to get here all in all is both communities to stop being assholes to each other, and respect the artists and all the time and effort they put into their songs. The Best solution seems to be artists who don't want a song added to GD can do that, they should be able to delete comments they don't see fit from the young parts of the GD community harassing them, and then up the security on songs being added to Newgrounds itself, see if the song is anywhere else and contact artists to see if it is them or not, it is isn't, remove it immediately.
Song Theft is Wrong
Harassing Artists is Wrong
Harassing Moderators is Wrong.

This guy is a fricken retard

(Sorry long comment and for the discontent I show in the beginning)
I think if you hadn't been so quick to do this out of nowhere, the majority wouldn't be all up in arms about it.
I know I, for sure, was shocked hearing about this and I think it would have worked better for everyone if you had given a warning about a week or so in advance prior to a full shutdown. If there was a warning, I would like to please be given insight on that, I didn't know anything I suppose.
Lastly, I'm sure that people are shocked by this knowing that their game is being turned into a souvenir for a while. Like holy hell, it was put into lock down essentially (not trying to sound bitter).
Not trying to hate on ya man, just saying that this could have been done just a tad better tbh.

None the less, I see it would help if the references you toss out periodically on the GD community for being 100% terrible would lighten up a bit. I'm not trying to sound enraged or anything but I'm sure it doesn't help from what I've seen by my fellow members (which I dislike at the least).

Also, I'm not sure if this is possible, but I wish to know if you and your fellow moderators alike could just give minor IP Bans on the reposters around here. You mentioned that people were spamming uploads of random bullshit correct? What I'm saying is to simply ban their IP for about a week or two and I'm nearly certain that it would help. These bans could build up and extend up to about, I don't know, lets say one month tops? I'm not a professional on human psychology but they are sure to stop if they get long tedious bans like that.

I just can't disagree more. The fact that you lady want to remove a game that uses songs which are allowed to use by their creators is disgusting, and the fact that people are spilling cruel insults which are not true about the community of GD is WAY worse. I can think of a million ways of solving this problem and not taking down the game, such as just finding anoyher platform with better peolple, of course. The fact that you people are insulting the community makes me think that you don't have a handful of arguments, and just hate the game and it's people. Have a nice day.

I know that the community can be annoying sometimes, and some of your points are true. However, generalising can be annoying because most of use are mature players with no intend of harassing the artists here.

Honestly, yes this is a huge situation for the content creators. I, myself, have played the game before and feel the game itself is amazing, but the community is full of stubborn people who want their way.
They destroy this website with their stupid crap and think it's all okay.
PEOPLE FROM GD ILLEGALLY RE-UPLOAD COPYRIGHTED SONGS JUST FOR LEVELS USING THEM TO PLAY FOR MUSIC.
They don't give a single s*** about the copyright laws and straight up break them, and when they get in trouble for it, they try some stupid little crap to get out of it.
I haven't experienced any of these issues that you amazing content creators who have to put up with it. (This because I have no content. It's like 0 / 500.)
I support your issue, and I would sign it, but it involves names and stuff like that, and I'm super personal about that stuff, but I would if I could.
Good luck resolving this issue, Meouch. :)

I understand. Thanks for your support nonetheless!

@Otiss -- Let me stop you right there. @RealFaction doesn't want his songs used in GD. @Xtrullor doesn't want his music abused by GD. I don't want my music used in any commercial ventures without my EXPLICIT permission. What is GD? It's a paid game. It breaks our Creative Commons license. Rob is getting paid to "feature" music against artists' will. If he used the JSON call set up by Newgrounds to give us the freedom to disable use in GD, no one would be having this problem.

I don't agree! Do you know how many people likes Geometry Dash? Many people didn't like that the game was removed from Steam and you still say "GEOMETRY DASH HAS BEEN REMOVED FROM STEAM YESSS". Why didn't you think about other alternative solutions? I'm with the GD community, RobTop and Forever Bound.

stop fucking assuming things guys, NG didn't get GD off the appstore, look on NG's twitter ffs smh...

It's kind of hard to defend GD when people like @Jack-Rabbit post comments. I am truly for all of this.

I am glad you captured the importance of this issue and supported it with appropriate evidence. There were many things on the site that bothered me a lot in the past year or so; such as the use of phrases such as "GD Cut" in the titles of published audio (I know it's not a huge issue but it is still annoying).

The worst thing is that so many people are somehow uninformed about this topic (especially most GD players). We can't be too upset at Robtop either because he is in a difficult position. I really admire the work the mods put in, even though this shouldn't be an issue to begin with.

I didn't expect GD to be taken down; however, this has been going for a long time so it makes sense. Once we get through this (we will get through this), the NG community should be in a pretty positive state. Let's hope for massive changes to audio use in GD (or complete removal if all else fails).

Stay strong and best of luck!!!

I hope... we all hope.

Also, after reading through just 1/3 of this comment section.... I feel sick and sad.

Like I said, stay strong.

Will do.

Firstly, I shall compare the toxic side of GD community to a bunch of looters. They just raid NG without any morals and empathy for those on the other side.

I would like anyone who steps into NG to be able to see the damn audio guidelines as the first thing. https://www.newgrounds.com/wiki/help-information/terms-of-use/audio-guidelines
I hope people will think twice before submitting anything that could be at the disadvantage of other people, whether it is the creators, NG composers or mods.

There should be new guidelines on commenting and treating the music of established composers here. We all have seen enough when a player brings a once-unpopular soundtrack into a level and the community just floods any page with the song in it. And don't get me started on all those "like if you came from..." comments.

I am genuinely disappointed that my community has been so toxic, and my heart goes out to your endless torment and pain that you face dealing with all the bullshit that comes into the audio portal. I can imagine how peaceful the community here was before GD came. I believe that there is a combined effort from both sides needed to bring this issue to a close.

-GDThallium

I hope we can peacefully close this too. *hug*

I am just sad that I have to watch my favourite game turning into a box of nails. As a player my perspective was this: "WTF SONG REMOVED FROM NEWGROUNDS. WHY?" But now, as a amateur musician and newfound member I can actually see it from another perspective.
And I agree. I signed it because, even when I am active player, I'm scared how toxic and GD community has become.

I feel your pain.

Pardon my grammar. I was typing with my phone and autocorrect just had to "fix" every god Damn word twice

@TimothySchmidtGDSilv The problem all this time was that Rob until now wasn't doing much of anything to fix the underlying problem or teach users to respect our community. It was virtually silent until the game itself as threatened.

I look back on whatvI said, and I do think I said some unesessary stuff. Well, most of it.

Again, removing the game will not make anything better. It'll only bring back more backlash from hell. But still, I haven't seen any harassment, but that's just me.

I had no idea, when re-reading my comment and looking at others, how absolutely insane we can be. I repeat, removing the game just sparked an entire community with +1 million people, and I will not sign the petition, but I do agree with the Song Theft part.

But even if you fix this, there will still be people uploading copyrighted and stolen music, so in a way this will be kind of pointless.

Another thing I stay strong by is you generalizing the entire community, doing so.is not right as there are amazing people in the community who appreciate artists.

I also learned that Robtop doesn't't keep the money for himself, he usually pushes it to Updates on GD.

I had to take some time to think about this, and I wanted to say I'm sorry for what I'd said. But it wasn't needed to push out so suddenly, that's how this started. I hope you accept part of what I said and that The GD Community can chill out a little bit.

Good luck to you.

P.S. Xtrullor is being hunted after signing the petition

I hope that you and the other level-headed users can set an example for the community because we all need some.

At least the Steam removal has sent a strong enough red flag to RobTop and eeryone concerned. Time to void the petition methinks?

Removing the game, just because of copyright issues?
Well @TroisNyx, you should thought about an another wiser way to solve this.

also I would like to speak about your second point. On one hand you say that the existing composers are getting stressed out from too much attention. But at the end you seem to be more concerned about those who upload work that is not their own. What exactly is your point?

All of these issues are intertwined as far as Newgrounds is concerned.

I'm against this petition.

The game is wonderful, of course, stealing someone's music is not cool, but my idea is: Did you played the game!? You are going to destroy 100000000 players around the world!!!

Do you really want to destroy this giant community!?

Yes, but as you know: GD is one of the most popular games.
