Also, sorry for double posting, but I wanted to remark this word: RESPECT. Because nobody seems to have it here.

I probably lack it enough times, myself.

I want to say one thing - in my opinion there is no party without fault so stop blaming one on each other, it only makes the whole situation worse...

What else to say - hope that the problem will be solved, I think that you've done right by making this petition

Tagging all of these composers and musicians in your rant is causing an insane amount of bad tension between them and the GD community. Maybe they didn't want any part of this. Maybe their income is greatly boosted by youtube revenue from their songs that were featured in GD and they rely upon a good relationship with that community. You're basically speaking for these people and dragging them into something you're upset about (and rightly upset about), but they can lose income from this. There are rumors spreading and a significant portion of the GD community are rallying against them believing they all signed your petition and are part of some war against them. This could be a huge blow to their careers. It's fair enough to stand up for something you believe in and to fix something that we all believe is completely broken and wrong, but others are suffering for it. If there's any way you could make it clear that this isn't everyone you tagged coming together to destroy GD, that would help them even more.

@cank I agree but I also don't.
Death and rape threats are never okay, but you guys can't just mass-flag the game to get it removed (I know RobTop removed it himself, but your intent was still the same) and expect us not to be angry, especially when RobTop already said he's working with @brentheman to get the problem fixed. A lot of those comments also make valid points (@zielgd, @tsr-animations, and @lolpvpclient for example) and have gotten no response from anyone. I might have been a bit harsh in my posts, but I still stand by everything I said.
A lot of the Geometry Dash users aren't helping themselves, though.

@cank I think a better idea would be to separate yourselves from GD until the problem is fixed. Basically, disable custom songs in GD. RobTop could make an announcement about it on Facebook or Twitter, and MOST of the community would be understanding. That would actually be productive and there would be a LOT less fighting between Geometry Dash and Newgrounds. Removing the game from stores is overboard, and it isn't stopping pirates or people that already own the game, which is something that a lot of people don't seem to realize.

Trust me, I've played lots of Newgrounds games and I wouldn't want to see the site go down either.

Don't blame me if I sound like I'm ignorant or missing obvious stufff, I'm relatively new to this debate and don't really know much about this stuff. I realize that one of the problems is song theft, and I think that one way to help solve this might be to have a small one-time lifetime fee for posting songs. When I was at the age and maturity of considering doing this (I did once, but removed it the next day), I know a fee of just a few dollars would have stopped me. Another thing I think would help is if GD had a way to link to accounts on Newgrounds (such as how apps like discord automatically connect to things like your youtube, skype and twitch accounts). This way, if you are spreading hate speech, you can be punished in-game, yet another thing I think would stop people with this mindset. I can't agree more with the Newgrounds artists and people out there who are being beaten down by this, they don't deserve it. Hopefully we can work together and get this figured out. Let's save Newgrounds (and hopefully the GD community too).

@cank "DMCA complaint is issued. Newgrounds gets shut down." lol dude, that isn't even remotely how that works.

Stop spreading BS in the name of protecting the site. We have never supported any of the actions being done here. All you people have done is cause a bunch of unnecessary drama over nothing.

Have you even spoken to @TomFulp? He was scared about these things taking effect. We saw him mention this a good few times. Okay sure, people are making a mountain out of seemingly nothing but it was very real to him and is very real to us mods.

Maybe that's not how it works, but if it wasn't how it worked, it should have been communicated to us better.

So About a day ago i posted two comments moaning and explaining how this was a stupid idea and basically being triggered at your choice, but after taking more research into this, I've decided to take those comments back.

Despite being a member of the GD community, I too, like some others in the comment, hate the community. It is incredibly toxic and there is a painful lack of commonsense in the community. It's completely understandable why you did this, and whilst I don't think trying to get the game removed was ideal, it was a step in the right direction. Apologies for my ignorance.

All is forgiven, all is well. Ideally, I would want GD up with a better audio integration system, something that respects everyone concerned. I know it's being worked on by BrentHeMan and RobTop at the moment, but it's kept under wraps and I do not claim to know what it is.

And ideally, I would also want the toxicity of the community to disappear. I know it's a tall order to ask that, but...

Fuck you @Troisnyx

Hate to double-post, but I've been reading the comments, and I've thought about a few things. First, comments saying that the petition was too extreme and is just as immature. I honestly agree, to some extent. I understand that you, as artists, had to deal with your passion & work being hated for years, but you didn't do anything about it. If someone's doing something and you don't tell them to stop, the only person to be angry at when it's still happening years later is yourself for not doing anything. I'm sorry for what you had to deal with, but you really didn't do much, and asking for the game to be removed so suddenly isn't justified. If I'd seen other proposals get shot down one after another, I would be more on that side. Secondly, GD WASN'T REMOVE FROM STEAM AND THE GOOGLE PLAY STORE BECAUSE OF THIS. Type in RobTop Games Twitter on google, and look at his recent messages, I dare you. Lastly, I realize this probably won't help, but both sides are handling this completely wrong. By complaining, calling names and pointing fingers, we achieve nothing.

And another thing - I hate it when people upload stolen songs for them to use in their levels. It's incredibly scummy and unnecessary. Even ignoring all the copyright issues, someone should never upload a song that's not theirs for the purpose of GD. It's just immoral, and even if they are giving credit, it's still just ridiculous. If you're uploading it for example; You are promoting it, because it's not heard enough, then I, personally, would be ok with it as it is trying to give the original artist good publicity - but even then, copyright issues should still be considered. I promise this is the last post I make, Thanks for giving our community time to think and in some cases, grow a brain.

>make a game disappear from steam
>read people's reactions
>call everyone "pissy"
Yeah that's it
FINALLY! MY GAME GOT REMOVED FROM A STORE! WOOHOO

@thetrueandonlyone Read the post before my previous one. It states that I did not think removing the game was ideal.

@cank RobTop can update the servers. If you rollback to, say, Update 2.0, the servers won't work at all.

Back when 1.9 and Newgrounds support came around. I saw 5 certain songs pop up on Newgrounds that were stolen within weeks.
1. Death Moon by SHK
2. a Skrillex Mashup
3. Rameses - Flaklypa
4. Magic Touch (like 7 different Times)
5. Highscore by Panda and Termite (4 different times)
and I knew that this situation would get worse to this point and all I gotta say as a final answer to this situation, the younger players of this community, the ones who do not understand consequences made this situation get to this point, the immature, toxicity of the community is making the situation worse than ever, but like a lot of people here are saying, just gotta look at the bright side and all the possible solutions.
Stop being Toxic and look on the bright side people, both NG and GD need to work together on this problem, and not let it be a warzone of comments.

I am a person who plays Geometry Dash and would much rather the game to stay around. I can agree with a lot of your reasons, about the Geometry Dash COMMUNITY being the problem.

Your idea that RobTop does not pay artists who's song are used in his game are absolutely ridiculous. He obviously gets permission from the artists he uses in the main levels. If he does not pay the artists for that, they would agree to not be paid. The game makes no money off of online levels, where most of the songs are used.

There are also no ads in the full version, meaning (until VERY recently), there were no ads anywhere near online levels. He may be working on figuring out how to pay artists, but that would be an incredibly difficult task (requiring newground artists to enter some info to be paid).

RobTop should not be punished for the horribleness of a large amount of Geometry Dash players. It is absolutely unbelievable how awful the community is to everyone who goes against them. What happened to Xtrullor is horrible, and the response of the GD community is even worse.

I really do hope that these issues can be fixed.

As a side note, GD being removed from various stores seems to have no effect whatsoever on the ability to play the game if you already own it.

I don't want to start a flame war or anything; but I believe you are overlooking some simple things.
RobTop doesn't get any money from songs used in custom levels. People only pay for the 21 levels in the game and the level editor; not the custom levels or the songs. Mind you, RobTop has permission to use the 21 songs that are in his official levels.
An idea for stopping spam; require a user's first upload to be manually verified. It will cause less work for you guys and filter out 99.9% of reuploads and copyright infringement.
Taking down Geometry Dash over it causing people to upload songs doesn't sound like a legally sound reason. The people uploading songs are in no way, shape, or form associated with RobTop. Don't take it out on RobTop; you can stop these people using the method above (it would end in better quality stuff on the site anyways).
Again, the community is not reflective of the company. If a site like this one had a whole bunch of douchebags start causing issues; would you want this site taken down?
Games are a form of art as well; along with music, movies, novels, and paintings. More hours go into a game than songs; I'd reckon the same for good games and any of the other art forms I listed.
@Troisnyx

While I don't condone removing the game from steam, I do see and agree with your point. A large part of the GD community makes me want to die. Some type of action had to be taken. I feel bad for music producers like Xtrullor and Waterflame...they seem really stressed right now. Not to mention you and the other mods on here, having to deal with daily bullshit from angry 6th graders.
Also I appreciate that you're trying to negotiate a more reasonable solution with robtop...that's really mature. Hopefully he can change the custom music system and make it more reasonable for everyone.
Hopefully this will all be resolved in a peaceful manner. Good luck to all of you on NG.
