Audio Skill Master Post!

Posted by Troisnyx - April 15th, 2016

I am writing this post as a compendium of every NG musician who has particular talents in a kind of instrument, or anything in particular. I do this with the intention of us helping each other out, and so that newer users who want to collaborate with us seasoned ones can do so by finding users through this post.

As a general rule, for those of you who intend to PM these users directly, it would be courteous to tell people if it is a paid job or something that you are doing without any payment. It would also be great to credit, compensate (if paid) and offer the possibility of future collaboration. I hope this will serve as a way of reaching out to some really good talents out there who need that little bit of help to make their ideas come to life.

If you are a vocalist, have an instrument you can play and record, or have some other particular skill that would prove handy, feel free to comment on this post and I will gladly add you to the list.

I knew I would ultimately forget something! You can add Latin to that list, as well. My absolute favourite of the so-called dead languages. :D

Ecclesiastical or classical pronunciation, out of curiosity? (That will likely not be mentioned in the list but I'm just curious, you know. XD)

Definitely Japanese, but hmm...might as well leave Mandarin off. I can't remember ever having a real need for it in a professional sense.

Heh, I get what you mean. ; ) So should I put in a note for romaji, or would characters do?

Whew, you're quick on the draw! Typically in a more classical sense, though Ecclesiastical isn't a problem.

...And definitely romaji! Haha, thanks.

Anytime! Oh boy.
Oh, side note. On the audio forum, there's something I'd like you to come see. I'm attempting a tutorial series but I can't seem to get it right.

Awesome plan. Could you put me down for Acoustic Guitar, Electric Guitar and Bass Guitar please?

You bet! Thanks for letting me know! :D

Sure thing! The FL Tutorial for Beginners? I'd be happy to take a look. ^__^

Heeeeeeeeey! Thanks ;) You could also add me for WInds (Soprano and Altor ecorders, alongside flute and a SOuth AMerican instrument called the Quena)

I'll do it asap. Thank you. : )

This is a great idea! Honoured to be included :)
I'd be happy to be put down for piano (I'm a cool chords guy if thats what you need), and I mix all my own vocals so would be keen to enter into other areas of mixing

Alright. I'll put you in for piano for the time being!

Languages...I'm most comfortable with German, Latin, Italian, Japanese, and I suppose Spanish. I guess you can count constructed languages too?

Alright, you bet. I'll put them in!

Oh god thanks for adding me on the list but sadly I am no pianist. I have no theoretical or practical knowledge of playijng an actual piano, I always composed my piano improvs by hand in FL Studio using notes in the keyboard window. But I am honored to be mentioned here, I want to practice actual piano lessons soon, probably start on proper fingering techniques as I feel those are the most vital part of starting out, without proper finger technique, you could go wrong many ways down the line in how you play and perform live and in recording situations.

@Grandvision While it's true that proper fingering is vital, I don't believe it's the most vital. My hands were already infused with improper fingering before I started formal lessons and of course I was constantly picked on by my teacher for having the "fingering of a five-year old" (that's an actual comment I received) However, he still urged me to have my own full-length recital and I ended up pulling it off, considering the amount of pieces and the difficulty of each one. So, what I'm trying to say is you can still get by if you don't have the best fingering. I mean...if you have perfect fingers but uninspired musicality...

Music itself will always trump its own techniques. But yeah, everyone needs some attention to technique as well. The End.

You asked for a list so here it is:

- Drums/percussion
- Piano/keys/melodica
- Guitar (Acous. Elec. Bass.)
- Contrabass
- Trumpet
- Saxophone (tenor, alto, soprano)
- French Horn
- Harmonica
- Mandolin
- Flute, Tin Flute, Shakuhachi
- Clarinet (b-flat)
- Vocals
- Violin/Cello (not very good though)

I still check newgrounds everyday I just don't post alot anymore.

well shucks. also create a new section for me called Handsomeness please

Sorry, no can do! ^_-

Thanks for listing me! I'm always looking for a decent collab! I also play electric, mandolin, uke, "household percussion," and banjo (shhhhh...I only do this for really important things. Banjo is to musicians what nude-scenes are to actors).

<3 This is a great post Trois

You can add me for vocals (All State Tenor One, sang in various languages including Italian, Swahili, Latin and French) and also general realistic drum programming if you'd like.

I'll add that all to the list. Programming might be a bit harder because I'm not sure how to add that section yet -- if anyone has a special side that they're most familiar with. Thank you regardless!

You got a full list of languages?

I can do acoustic guitar as well :)

Alright. Will update asap. Thanks for letting me know.

I can play drums and melodic piano.

Noted for the drums. For melodic piano, do you mean you can't accompany? (Right hand only?)

I'd love to be included in the following:
Vocals (English)
Guitar (Acoustic)
Guitar (Electric)
Piano (90 year old baby grand)
Organ (All original Hammond B3)
Sound Design
Mixing and Mastering

Done!

You can put me down as an electric guitarist and bassist :)

I will do! Thanks for letting me know.

I'm a quite experienced bassist with decent recording equipment :).
Could you add me to the list?

You bet I will. Thanks for letting me know!
