My thoughts âEU"

1. The bells at the intro aren't the best, but they're good for an ominous start. Have them a bit deeper and more pronounced, perhaps?
2. Those laughs at around 1:15 were freaky. D: Would've scared me out of my five wits if I was listening in the dark!
3. There was a general atmosphere of tension, which I can imagine in a game's battle stage âEU" perhaps for a specific type of enemy or boss. I can't imagine this with a lot of enemies, but I like where you're taking the beat and accompaniment.
4. I can't comment much on the mixing because I'm not too good with it, but it isn't as hard on the ears as some of my tracks can be, so that's a good thing. : )

Keep up the good work!

Thanks for the review! :)

Simply beautiful!

I haven't much to say about this piece in general except that I must commend you for the orchestration. I've heard this in OOT and the flutes actually go well with this version - I'm sure you're happy with this. I am! ^_^

As for the ocarina SF, there is an entire thread pertaining to Soundfonts on the Audio Forums. There are a number of zip files you want to check out. I downloaded a few of them, and there are a few ocarina SFs inside.

This is going into my little, but ever-expanding, favourites list.

Wrong genre...

This SHOULD have landed in Ambient - the drums just don't make it classical.

That aside, points to ponder:

1. Whatever synth that was that sounded like water drops - that was BEAUTIFUL. They added to the piece and reminded me of a running brook.
2. The orchestration in general was quite alright, but the drums gashed it. Thing is, the orchestration sounds like it has room for tempo to be varied, and sounds good when it stands alone, but the drums offsetted this terribly. Now it sounds like the strings are slightly offbeat.

FEAST responds:

The slow attack of the strings make the drums sound offbeat. If anything the strings are offbeat. Well, they aren't, they just appear to be. In the full version it kinda breaks out into full on dance music. Also, I believe the water drops are very high pitch snare hits. Also, I don't really know the difference between ambient and classical. Nor do I care. It's all just music to me who cares what label somebody slaps on it because they think it sounds a certain way.

As far as the drums gashing the piece...

F U !!!

Astoundingly beautiful. <3

I love these chords, and these chords tell me that you've got skill. I picture this as a battle theme, perhaps a chase leading to something greater. ^_^

My only pickle is the lack of dynamics - even a slight change from mezzo forte to forte would be good for this piece.

Favourited. Keep up the good work!

GoldenSunRising responds:

Duly noted. I'm uploading an edited version with more dynamic variation now. Thanks so much for your comment!

Having watched the walkthrough of MM to the end...

...you've captured the emotion perfectly. I can imagine this playing towards the end, right before Link is taken up to the moon.

I love this version. Kudos. ^_^

Warhector responds:

thanks man ! :D

Having been acquainted with this carol...

...and with church bells - I find this a rather grandiose interpretation of the original. Comes second to plainchant and some orchestral Christmas music, but I love this. Kudos!

PenguinSam responds:

I'm glad you enjoyed it, thank you! I always thought of church bells as very grandiose, and this carol reminded me of them. So naturally, a grandiose composition came about using it. I'm glad you love it, thank you for the listen!

<PS>

Stunning.

You just made nostalgia even more epic on piano. It's simply beautiful. That's MPC Steinway SF, I take it?

Also, are you the person who put Mario Paint Composer songs on YT? I remember MissArtiste had commented asking you to join the Piano Contest Round XIII. If you are, please do join! If not, I might've confused you with someone else. ^_^'

SuperDragonMasters responds:

Yes It's Steinway SF, Yes I put some of my MPC Music on YT.
And the last question? I don't think MissArtiste asked me about that.

This one reminds me of...

...Tekken 4 or 5 music, but more Tekken 4 music.
I'll have to agree with KillTheTrucker on the bass, and BlowinMoneyENT on the chords. The main synths are repetitive, but the backing synths are lovely, and the rhythm is superb.

I reiterate - it does sound good in some fighting game (as a BGM piece, with all the kinks knocked out), and Tekken was the one example I thought of.

tay2von responds:

Lmfaoo thats pretty funny how you explained that, yeaa i see what youre sayin though thanks for the input

Okay, here goes...

Time for some honest feedback.

I like how you are attempting to produce in different genres, so this is the first piece I've decided to listen to.

Some things I've noticed -

1) The chords repeat every four bars, although there is a visible progression from start to end.
2) There isn't very much noticeable audio panning (R/L).
3) The synths in the main theme are off in some places.
4) Considering that this is a backing track for a rapper, it raises questionmarks for me. There's an intro, only two chorus parts, and a rap sequence in the middle, and that's pretty much it.
5) Add with that the fact that some note sequences have the same dynamic range, making the music sound terribly unnatural. (I've committed this mistake several times before, myself, so I'm able to point it out.) For music to sound natural rather than synthesised, there has to be some slight variation between the loud and soft, to give it the kind of touch that a person gives when he is playing his instrument.

There's my 2p on the piece. I'll take a listen to your other pieces soon.

tay2von responds:

Lol thanks for the help man, im bout to go work on it now

Highly commendable.

Probably one of the best VG loops there is around. My only complaint is that the synths at 0:32 are off.

Otherwise, really good work. I love the 8-bit nuances, I love how the rest of the piece goes! ^_^

Jackayl responds:

Wow! Thank you for the review! :)

I don't see anything wrong with 0:32 though, does that part not fit the rest of the song...? I might tweak it a little bit.
